Debuting in the 2019 production year, all Nissan Altima models will come with a standard 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct injection engine that earns 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Both of these ratings are significant improvements over the preceding standard engine (179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque). This is a good base engine, but the true showstopper is just around the corner.

Introducing the world’s first-ever production-ready Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine. After more than 20 years in development, Nissan engineers have completed the first line of VC-Turbo engines and they are ready to ship out worldwide. Available to 2019 Altima SR and Platinum models, the era of the VC-Turbo engine is on the horizon, and it is a truly exciting horizon at that.
